Comments: It is an average polyester string. The only thing that stands out is feel and comfort. So if you're looking for a softer polyester give this a try. Control, spin, and longevity are nothing to write home about.

Comments: I had been using shaped co-poly strings with less power (low 50's on the TW score guidelines) as I'm able to generate my own power, but still, I wanted a co-poly string that offered a little more power but, yet it had to be arm-friendly too. Sean recommended on VLOG #629 (playtester picks) trying out Black Magic due to some wrist issues and after watching the TW string review, I decided to try it out. At $7.90, why not. Because I'm using a 18x20 string pattern, I decided on the 17g for some added feel and spin, at 50 lbs. on my Head 360 Speed Pro. I have about 10 hours on these strings and here are my observations. During the first few hours of hitting, I thought that comfort level was just as TW described, 76. While I was expecting a softer feel given everything I've read online, it was definitely softer than many other co-poly strings on the market. So, from that perspective, Black Magic is definitely worth the try for those needing some elbow relief, just keep the tension 50 lbs. or below. Regarding my initial feedback, I thought the string was just okay, nothing worth providing feedback on the TW site. In fact, because I had been using co-poly strings with less power/dead feel, my balls tended to fly long, so I wasn't very happy about. Black Magic is also a round string, so I was somewhat regretting not trying out a shaped co-poly. However, the strings must have settled in after a few hours because ever since, the amount of feel/touch and ball pocketing have been great. The power level of this string seems well suited for my game. I did have to adjust my game a little with a quicker follow through/faster racquet head speed but I'm hitting the ball as hard as ever and the balls are not flying long anymore. To my surprise, I'm also hitting with a lot of topspin. I'm taking big aggressive cuts on returns and along with getting pace, I can see the balls dipping down, making it hard for my opponents to serve and volley. Lastly, my serve has a lot more pop, which as earned me some free points, which I will gladly take. In conclusion, I extremely happy with Black Magic. I've been playing some great tennis since using Black Magic and I'm definitely sold. Don't let the low price make you think that Black Magic is an inferior string, it's not. I'm committed and will be buying a reel (only $89). Below are my revised review scores as compared to TW: Feel 82 (TW 76); Power of 66 is about right. Compared to other dead co-poly strings with a score in the low 50's, the added bump in power at 66 is spot on; Spin 80 (TW 76).
