Overview

Introducing Xplosive Speed - a comfortable co-poly with massive spin potential and surgical targeting on full swings. With its grippy five sided profile, Xplosive Speed puts a tight grip on the ball, making it easier for the strings to grab and load the ball with spin. Designed with softening agents, this string has above average comfort for a poly-based monofilament. Kirschbaum pre-stretches Xplosive Speed using their ThermoFusion Technology. The result, according to our playtest team, is a longer lasting playability. Intermediate players looking for a lively and comfortable co-poly with huge spin-potential should love this one.

Please note: Kirschbaum has  changed the 17 gauge to 1.23mm

  • Gauge: 17/1.23mm

A little stiff, but otherwise just fineI put the strings in my Blade 98 V8 16 x 19 at 48 pounds. My arm and shoulder tends to be pretty sensitive and I could definitely feel a little something after playing for a couple hours with the strings. Nothing terrible, but I felt it. Second time out I felt no pain. Power was exceptional with these strings. Spin and control were just fine though they do lack a little bit when it comes to touch shots. But that's not uncommon with strings that are so energetic. Not too sure on the durability of these strings, but I believe they have gone dead on me after about four hours of playing with them. They sound tinny and feel stiff now and that's usually the sign that the strings are toast. That's pretty common for me to only get a handful of hours out of the softer poly strings. I'm also currently trying the Kirschbaum Pro Line Evolution string and those ones feels significantly softer, have better pocketing and better touch with good power. The Xplosive strings are OK, but I prefer a softer string with more pocketing. I just need to find one that will last me more than 4 hours.

Comments: I got to try this string. I was very impressed with the power I was getting, especially on serves, not to mention the placement. I have been using different 18 gauge Kirschbaum strings for a few weeks now. All are top quality and easy on the arm.

Comments: I thought this string played great. I have been using this 17 gauge full bed in an 18x20 K7 Lime with about 16 hours of playing on it. The biggest standouts for me are the power and comfort. It is a soft feeling poly that has great pocketing and above average spin potential. I had it strung at 52 pounds and so far tension has held up great despite it being on the softer side. What I like about this string is it instantly feels settled in and gives me great comfortable feedback. I am playing this beside the Tourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour in the same gauge and frame to decide my string of choice. The Tourna is sharper, crisper feeling, and stiffer, but has outstanding tension maintenance and longevity.
