This arm-friendly spin monster comes at price that is too good to refuse

Prince Vortex is a co-polyester spin machine designed for players with long, fast strokes. With its predictable and low-powered response, it will enable you to attack the ball with your most powerful strokes. Vortex comes with a shaped hexagonal profile, giving it plenty of grip for easier access to spin. Although it has a firm monofilament construction, Prince has manufactured Vortex with softening agents to boost elasticity. As a result, the comfort level is above average for a poly-based string. At only $79 for a reel, this is one of the best value polys available, and it is perfect for those who place a premium on spin, control and durability. The great feel is a nice bonus. (Did we mention the spin?)

Prince Vortex 1.25I string my own racquets and this is great for the price. Definitely feel confident adding spin to balls and feels nice and springy. Currently on my Prince Textreme Tour 95 strung at 45lbs.

Solid and Arm FriendlyI put this on my 2023 Yonex Vcore 98 at 52 lbs and hit with it on Friday and Sunday. I'm a 4.0-4.5, all-court player, and usually play with a mutli/shaped poly hybrid on my rackets due to tennis elbow but decided to try out this poly because I heard it was crisp, soft, and budget-friendly. (I haven't played in over a month by the way until this past weekend.) I haven't played with a full bed of poly in almost 10 years so I was very nervous of my tennis elbow coming back. At first, balls were flying slightly long so I adjust my swing path. I had to really get underneath the ball to land in and I usually hit flat so it took a while to get used to. After 4-5 hours of playing, I have to say that this is one of the better polys I've hit with in a long time. It's cheap, super arm friendly, had plenty of spin and touch/feel on serves, volleys, and drop shots. I highly recommend this string for people who hit with a lot of spin, want some added power, and feel. I will definitely be getting a reel of this pretty soon!

It works very wellI used this string with Head Instinct MP racquet with 46 lbs. It works very well and surprised everyone who played with that racquet. Prince made a good string, power & lots of spin.

Vortex 17I strung my Prince Phantom Pro 100 with a full bed at 45#. It played well until it lost tension -- then balls began to fly. I suggest a higher tension, maybe 50# or above so when the strings loosen you'll have at least a few hours of good play. I also recommend playing with your dominant hand so you have the best experience. This string has very little forgiveness at a loose tension for me playing left handed.

Great on my Wilson Blade 98 v7I've tried about 10 different strings with my Blade. This came in second place, but I still give it a 5 star because with the price it has you cannot get any better. I use a Blade 16x19 v7 strung at 57lb, 16 gauge. I have a long powerful swing so I need the tension, but I have great feel, and control with this string. The only string that I have tried that is better than this one is the Solinco Hyper-G 16.

Comments: Most powerful polyester I've ever played. Bar none. The shape is great and does provide spin, it's slick so there's solid snapback, but this string has the power level of a multifilament. It does not match well with stiff or powerful frames unless you want to string it high. I used it at 50 and 52 pounds in a stiffer frame, Pro Staff 97L, and it was not fun to play with after an hour. Balls would fly. You have to swing incredibly vertical with this string at lower tensions in a stiff frame. All this said, if it's in a more flexible control frame, it plays nicely. I played with it in a 2021 Extreme Tour demo from TW and it complemented the controlled nature of that frame really nicely. Could swing out on any shot and it was spinning in near the lines. It just doesn't pair well with any kind of powerful frame even though it is incredibly soft and comfortable.

Comments: This string has a very nice soft feel. For volleys and pocketing the ball it was great. I tried the red 17 gauge. I didn't feel it has as much bite as some other polyesters on the market, but it was definitely adequate. I had it strung at 50 pounds. At this price point it is well worth it. I had been searching for a soft polyester like this, and I think I found it!

Comments: I am trying the 17 gauge in red. It does test as a 17. I don't have a micrometer caliper but the gauge groove on my Unique Stringmeter clearly shows it as 16 gauge. I am not sure whether the black 17 would show the same.

Comments: I was impressed with the way this string felt in my Textreme Tour 100L at 45 pounds. I had very good control and good power, especially on serves. I hit pretty flat but the string was giving me more topspin. At this price point, it's a great buy.

Comments: I really enjoyed this string. I used as a test string in the Prince Phantom 93P 18x20. String gives a fairy nice bite and access to spin. It is also one of the more comfortable poly strings I have tried. Tension maintenance was average, but at this price per string, I am not sure there is much better out there. Give this a look.
