Overview

Tornado will wreak havoc on your opponent with its exceptional spin potential. It offers a heptagonal shape that's axially twisted to provide maximum bite on the ball, helping produce more spin. This helps keep the ball inside the baseline while offering excellent longevity with the optimized molecular structure. Good ball pocketing and pop combine for controlled power. Signum recommends stringing with 10% less tension than usual polyester or nylon strings because of the minimal tension loss.

Comments: I've used this 16g string exclusively (at 54 lbs) for about 4+ years after years of looking for the best string suited for me. I like to take big cuts at the ball and put a lot of topspin on my ball, and play with a "player's racquet" (Avery Control 95 square inch). I usually just hit for hours and hours -- no match play, so I always keep the racquet pointed in the same direction in my hands -- meaning the strings always get pulled in the same direction because regardless if on my FH or BH side, the strings are striking the ball in the same direction. (BH slicing would be the exception but I don't slice much and even when I do, my slice stroke does not impact the strings like a good flat, or semi western cut) I never heard anyone use this trick before, I highly recommend it for making your strings feel good even after many hours after play -- weeks even months. There is virtually no string movement using this trick because once the strings bend slightly, they stay that way. If you don't use this trick, then your strings will get pulled in both directions when striking the ball after hours of play -- it would cause any string to move. So use this trick and say goodbye to string movement! Of course serving could change the impact direction of the string unless you go out of your way to spin the racquet just before serve, and spin it back immediately after serve. That aside, these strings just feel right. No elbow issues (unlike RPM Blast -- which I did feel on my elbow once). I have demo'd 105 total racquets over the years and have tried all kinds of string, tensions, gut, hybrid, etc. While I like the poly main, gut crosses hybrid -- I just popped them too frequently and have come to rely on the fully Tornado poly string job, 2 piece job. I string them myself. These strings do not need to be cut out if you can deal with the slight drop in feel. I just play with them until they pop to save money, and I've gotten used to how they play after hours of play -- even weeks and months (if I was not hitting that much with them). They will pop eventually. I used to pop them more when I was younger but now that I am in my mid 40s, it takes a little bit longer to pop them. I bought two reels once I realized they were going to be the string for me. I am almost tempted to buy more reels for future years of use. In my opinion they beat various polys from Luxilon and Babalot, hands down -- they tick off all the things you could look for in a poly in my opinion, not too bouncy, not too harsh, enough feel without affecting spin potential.

Comments: Great string. I use a full bed in my Wilson Blades 98S at 48.5 lbs/22 kilos because it is a little stiff. One can reduce tension as it holds really well. Signum also recommends 10% less tension. Good spin, control and power. Plus it is not too expensive.

Comments: I agree with the loopier swing from this. You can, and need to, hit up and aggressive. I found there is more spin than the Signum Poly Pro and this has a nice feel. My serves lost some heaviness though versus the Poly Pro.

Comments: This string is brutal, it feels really stiff, so if you are trying to find something easy on the arm, go look somewhere else. That being said, if you like poly strings, and you like strings that are axially twisted, this string is as good as it gets. I use a full Tornado job in my Prestige Pro at 54 lbs and when the strings are fresh, you can really see that extra bit of spin you get from the string. They lose very little tension and the move very little, after some hours of play the amount of spin you get is not quite the same, the shape of the string logically goes rounder. Durability is not the best for poly strings (less than the Signum Pro Poly Plasma), have tried better, but it is not an issue either. Black colored strings are just cool. Everybody is comparing these strings with the Babolat RPM Blast, but in my opinion, this is not the right comparison. MVS Hepta, Gosen Sidewinder are, by design and materials, closer to the Tornado.

Comments: This is an interesting string compared to RPM blast, Black Code, and Spiky Shark. There's great topspin and slice as expected, perhaps not as much as Spiky Shark (which I think had the most spin) but definitely on par, but not as much pop off the flat shots that I was getting with RPM Blast, particularly noticeable on my two handed backhand. I had to a adopt a loopier style of hitting my two handed backhand, to get good depth. I think this string does have something unique compared to the others in that it seems to be noticeably easier to pull off touch volleys and drop shots which are more difficult for me when using this category of strings. I was alternating between groundstrokes and finesse shots very naturally with Tornado. I think the overall power/depth might have been easier to access with RPM Blast, but the control was good and roughly equivalent to the others. I strung it at 58 lbs on a full bed, which is what I usually string at. The strings feel a bit tighter than they have with the others, it could be that they are a bit better at retaining tension, I could drop it a few lbs the next time I try it to get the same feel that I am used to.
