Overview

Take a bite out of the ball with the thinnest version of Hyper-G Soft! This string not only delivers surgical control and outstanding durability, it puts a very tight grip on the ball for easier access to spin. It also packs above average comfort and feel for a poly-based monofilament. In addition to being a great option for the polyester veteran who wants a more tendon friendly ride, Hyper-G Soft is a great transitional polyester for the player who wants to enjoy the control and spin the benefits of polyester without the harsh feel.

First poly I likeI tried this string upon recommendation of a friend. I have been using and breaking multifilament strings on a monthly basis. I have had control problems with two previous poly strings and was concerned about hurting my elbow due to the stiffness of poly. However, I feel this string has added a little more power to my game and have had no elbow problems. I was also surprised at the price because it's about half of my multifilament.

So far, so goodThis is the first set of poly strings that l like. I’ve tried a couple others but kept going back to my multifilament strings for the softer and more control feel. I don’t feel any strain on my arm, haven’t lost any topspin and think l have a little extra power on my groundstrokes.

Great cross in a guy/poly hybridI started stringing a hybird setup a couple years ago. Was using an inexpensive off the shelf Prince multi/poly, and decided to try a gut/poly. I string it gut mains 54 lbs poly crosses 52 lbs. No racquet induced arm issues, but as I age I am guarding against it. The Hyper G soft at 18 is lively and soft, and provides for me a nice "easy there, mister" to the natural power of the gut mains. I don't break strings much, and play 3 or 4 times a week between ball machine, lessons, drills, matches, etc. I get a couple months of play out of the setup without noticing the polys going off, and of course the gut feels great until you break them. Some local club players of similar ilk (and means) have been converted out of pure poly. Great feel, good spin.

Not So SoftAfter reading the reviews I bought one set of this string to try and to my disappointment it was not a soft Poly! I even lowered my tension from 50 to 48 lbs but still felt fairly stiff on my Babolat Pure Drive Lite. Power is good. I prefer Volkl V-Torque 18.

Liking these strings a lot!Senior 4.0 doubles player who has a history of tennis elbow from using stiff poly strings. After avoiding poly for awhile, decided to try the Hyper G soft 18 g on the advice of a friend. For over 2 months now, I've been using a full bed strung at 48 lbs in my Head Gravity Tour. No elbow issues and the strings play nice, though I realize I may have to restring more often as tension dissipates and the weather heats up.

Tension LossI love Hyper-G strings and have used them for years. Based on the TW review to try the Hyper-G Soft, I bought a reel. That was a mistake. It is softer than the regular, but it loses tension much faster in my opinion.

Comments: Second worst string I think I've played with. The only hyper about this string in my opinion is the hype. Too stiff and unforgiving for a soft polyester plus a lack of control. Only played with them twice and went back to the Kirschbaum Pro Line II.

Comments: Strained a muscle in my arm using a Luxilon string. After it healed, I tried multifilaments, XOne-Biphase and also HDX. They were very comfortable, but not enough control and spin after being too used to using a pure polyester string. Found the Hyper-G Soft 18g has been comfortable enough so far despite now using with a 2021 Pure Drive with full swings. Using a tension of 48 pounds. I have tried Volkl Cyclone Tour and Solinco Tour Bite Soft. Felt the Solinco Hyper-G Soft was the crispest with good bite and also remained lively longer.

Comments: I tried this string based on some comments from different stringers I know. I thought it was definitely softer than the original Hyper-G. I did not notice more spin, but overall the string felt good.
