Overview

Volkl Psycho combines the spin and control of Volkl Cyclone with the comfort, feel and power of Volkl Power Fiber II. The result is a hybrid with incredible precision and feel. From the baseline, this hybrid has enough pop and spin to create a very heavy ball. Players looking for spin-friendly performance of a great co-poly, but who also want the shock absorption and responsiveness of a comfy multifilament are encouraged to try this one.

My new “go-to” hybridControl, power and spin. This string is all that I could ask for, and at a great price! I've played about 14 matches using two racquets strung with this hybrid. Only one is starting to look like it needs to be restrung, so the durability is great as well.

Good stringI've been using these strings for years. Good all-around string and easy on the elbow. And you can't beat the price.

Comments: Played with these (Cyclone mains, Power Fibre in crosses 52/50 lbs) in a couple of matches this weekend. Played great right out of the gate -- good control, plush, lovely feel and power that allows a relaxed swing while still shooting the ball across the net. I am not a big topspin player but slices were really biting and giving opponent a lot of trouble. Played last with a Solinco hybrid of Tour Bite and Vanquish (17 and 16 gauge), and Psycho just felt better all around. Also played with a full bed of poly before Luxilon Timo 18g and there was more control there for sure. Personally though the loss of a little control was more than made up for by the added comfort and feel as well as power. I think this will be my string of choice going forward, depending on how it fares for say a month! Played in a Prince Tour Texteme 95, I'm a 4.0 NTRP player.

Comments: Cyclone in the mains, and PowerFiber in the crosses -- a great combination. String the crosses a few pounds higher and you will get all benefits of power and comfort of a quality multi paired with the spin and control of the excellent poly. I'm a Psycho fan!

Comments: This set up feels really nice while it lasts. Easy power, good access to spin, decent feel, and good comfort. Unfortunately, this set up only lasts for about 6 hours of play before it snaps. Strung in Six-One K-Factor 90 at 55 lbs and Pro Staff 97S at 52 lbs.

Comments: This is the worst set up I have ever had strung in my racquet. I was testing out some hybrid stringing and thought this set up might go well with my style of play (I am a fan of a full bed of Cyclone) but these felt muted, sloppy and awful. Maybe it's me, but I do not recommend this.

Comments: This is not a lasting string. Power is there and control is present too, but tension drops way too quickly and the crosses started fraying after two weeks of play. Pop is better than average, but not what I hoped for. I had similar or better results with Kirchbaum's Black Shark and Ashaway's Crossfire and these are much more durable. Psycho is softer on the arm though.
