Overview

Volkl V-Star is one of the most comfortable co-polys available. This string is a great option for the player who wants the spin and durability benefits of a poly-based string but not the high stiffness and off-center shock for which the breed is known. V-Star also has above average power for a control string. All in all this is a great option for the player transitioning into a poly-based monofilament. It's also ideal for all those poly veterans who want to give their tendons a very smooth ride

Comments: This string is great! I used to use a polyester and multifilament blend, but V-Star eliminates this need. I find plenty of power here at 53 pounds in the mains, 50 pounds on the crosses, and great control to boot. This will be my string of choice for awhile.

Comments: I purchased a good bit of V-Star on sale at TW. Mainly I was looking for an alternative to Head Sonic Pro. This string is slightly firmer than Sonic Pro, but overall it is a fairly similar string. My experience, literally every time I use this string in every frame I have tried, is that it starts out feeling like a powerless board. After several hours of play the string loses enough tension that its character completely changes and it becomes quite comfortable and playable. The tension loss continues until it is too baggy to use. I usually get 5-6 doubles matches out of it before the tension has dropped below where I like it. Long story short, I am still looking for the tension sweetspot with this string that won't start out too boardy and won't get too loose too quickly. Currently strung in an Ezone 98 at 50 pounds, then I strung it at 48 pounds.

Comments: This string is exactly what the description states. Off center hits are pretty dampened and absorb the shock. Soft string. Doesn't feel like a poly at all, but you get great spin! Had a wrist injury about two months ago (tendonitis). Pretty healed up, but going back to my usual set-up (sheep in the crosses and 17g Hyper G in the mains) -- ah, I'm still a bit sore after playing and just don't feel like I can swing at the ball. Switched out the Hyper G to the V-star and holy cow! Just feels great on my wrist. It's definitely not as stiff, but I can still get great spin and I'm enjoying the extra power with this string. I feel like I can swing at the ball again without concern about aggravating my wrist. Will I go back to the stiffness? Don't know, but for now I'm laughing and having fun again. It definitely gives your tendons a smooth ride. Using a Pure Aero strung at 48 lbs with V-star 17g. and 50 lbs with Micro Sheep 16g.

Comments: Totally Agree! Very comfortable when I go for my shots. Has forgiveness and good ball pocketing. And some power to boot!

Comments: I love this string. I use it on a Volkl V1 Pro as a hybrid at 58/56 lbs. Remember, polys lose tension more than other strings so I'm not afraid to go higher in tension!

Comments: I'm not a huge fan of this string. Indeed, it is a comfortable poly, but it's also incredibly stretchy, somewhat mushy and it suffers from tension loss. It's everything you don't want in a poly. If you want a great and comfortable poly with a great balance of power, spin and comfort, try Genesis Black Magic. The Volkl V-Star just failed on multiple levels, and I can't recommend it.

Comments: This string does not have any feeling if strung much below 53 pounds, especially on a spin racquet with an open string pattern. This is a bit softer than the usual poly string.

Comments: Great string. I have tried it on a Volkl Pro V1 racquet at 53 lbs and as a hybrid in the mains at 52 lbs with a multifilament in the crosses at 55 lbs. This poly string is softer than other well known brands and plays equally as well. The color options are nice and the price is great. I recommend it to any poly user.

Comments: A truly comfortable and playable poly. I have used almost all of Volkl's poly strings over the years and V-Star is by far there most playable version in my opinion. Great ball pocketing, exceptional access to spin and unbelievable feel. The added power did not take long to get used to and was a plus on my serves. I strung this up at 52 lbs in a Wilson Blade 98 16x19 string pattern. This is now my go to string. 4.0 all court player.
