Overview

Attention big hitters looking for a spin machine. We have the perfect hybrid for you. It's called Blue Rock N Power and it delivers surgical control and massive spin potential. Unlike a traditional hybrid, this one features two poly-based strings. The main string is a 4 sided co-poly with extremely sharp edges (think bite). The cross strings are round and slippery to enable the main strings to snap back with extra force (think heavy spin). Durability is impressive for a thin gauge. Did we mention the spin potential?

  • Gauge: Main: 17L/1.20mm / Cross: 17L/1.20mm
  • Length: Main: 21ft Cross: 20ft
  • Composition: Co-polyester Monofilament
  • Colors: Blue

Nice SurpriseA friend of mine tried this in his Head Extreme Tour and really liked it. I hit with his racquet and was impressed. I ordered some for my Wilson clash v2 100 and strung it at 48lbs mains/46lbs crosses with a 10% pre-stretch on both. Topspin is great and slices are pretty nasty. Easy to serve with. Very pleasantly surprised. We will see how it holds up and whether it bags out too quickly.

String broke while stringingI was anxious to retry this hybrid string, Unfortunately, it broke while stringing the crosses at 52 lbs. I strung so many times and different strings and this was the first time a string broke on me. Tennis Warehouse could not do anything about it because it was 90 days after I bought it. I don't think I will try again since I am afraid it will happen again and waste my time stringing it.

Comments: This string helps create incredible spin the first time you play with it. The only problem is that it is good for about a match and then drastically loses tension. Fast tension loss and elasticity loss is a problem I've had with other Weiss Cannon strings as well. Also, the main strings are thicker than advertised, which isn't a bad thing for spin since the cross string is much thinner allowing the square main string more bite. To copy this setup with a string that holds tension much better, I recommend going with Volkl V-Squared in the mains, with either Volkl Cyclone or Solinco Confidential in the crosses. Babolat Origin on the crosses if you have any kind of shoulder or elbow pain. Use a thicker gauge on the mains and thinner on the crosses for more bite, all else being equal.

Comments: Used it in Blade 98 2015 (18x20). My stringer told me the strings was really hard to string. I played with them for about 5 hours in total and cut them right after. String feels too harsh, no flexibility, poor ball control, extremely uncomfortable to play. Never again.

Comments: I use it in my Donnay, I don't really get the talk about the weight being different, really? The first thing I noticed was how it was lowered powered. I usually do 52 tension but I went to 47 here I think. After an adjustment, I found I could really aim deeper and the balls were spinning in. It really feels different than other polys I have used and I think people with faster strokes are going to really like this. I was really forcing my hitting partners back and then got some good targeting as well. It won't be for everyone but one to try. I'm a 5.0 player.

Comments: I've been playing with Volkl Cyclone 17 Orange for a year and decided to experiment recently. I tried this this Blue Rock N Power Hybrid in one of my racquets and also tried Solinco Hyper G 17 in my other for comparison. Just like the previous poster has noted, this string is much thicker than a standard 17 gauge more like 16 and is quite heavier which caused a head heavy feel right away on my racquet (threw my HL balance way off). Otherwise a great string but it's a deal breaker for me. Next going to compare Hyper G with Ultra Cable but since Ultra Cable already comes in 1.23 and I enjoy playing with 17 gauge (true 1.20). I suspect it might be a deal breaker as well. I'm a 4.0 player baseline player.

Comments: Feels like a big improvement over Ultra Cable in terms of feel (a little crisper) and, especially, control. It's as aggressively shaped as Ultra Cable and it also feels thicker than stated, which also makes it a little heavier. It threw my balance off a bit, making the racquet more head heavy than my other ones, which are strung with a true 17g. I would consider switching to this string if Sigfried Weiss could produce a true 17g, because it is good. I like the color as well.
