Retro Prince style combined with high performance support, stability, and comfort.

Combining retro Prince style with technologies built-in to provide the support and stability needed for aggressive movers, the Prince Phantom 1 is here! Featuring a mid-cut around the ankles, this Phantom 1 provides a very supportive fit, and that locked-in feel you will often find with basketball shoes. Compared to the Prince T22, this Phantom 1 has a more snug, glove-like fit, as well as a low to the court ride that keeps you feeling light on your toes. An outrigger on the lateral side of the toe-box is designed for extra stability on quick changes of direction, while the X-Light Endurance rubber compound provides superb traction on a variety of surfaces. The mid-cut ankle collar provides plush padding around the achilles, and fans of the T22 Mid should give these shoes a try if seeking that added ankle support.
  • Upper: Synthetic and mesh materials combined, for a blend of support, durability, and ventilation.
  • Midsole: Full length EVA foam underfoot provides cushion, and a responsive quick feel.
  • Outsole: X-Light Endurance rubber compound formed into a multi-directional pattern, for enhanced durability and traction on a variety of court surfaces.
  • Color: Black / White

Best Balance and SupportI've owned my pair for over four months now and felt I could write an objective review. The fit seemed a bit too roomy at first so I simply added another pair of socks, and now all is good. This is a 3/4 height shoe and there is what I'd call a very pronounced "outrigger" portion of the sole. When sliding on hard or clay, this outrigger provide exceptional balance. I play these on Har-Tru Clay and thus they'll probably never wear out. Great shoe. Superior balance. Well ventilated.

Long time T22 wearer - these are amazing!I've been wearing the T22s for a dozen years or more, both the classic and lite versions. These came up in my search for a new pair and the extra width in the pictures caught my attention. I usually need wide shoes anyway, so this seemed interesting. I got these yesterday and played both tennis (4.5) and pickleball (intermediate), and these are fantastic! The fit is amazing - as soon as I put them on, they just molded to my foot like a glove. The extra wide sole is immediately apparent with added stability that you really notice. Just a really, really comfortable shoe to walk around in with great support all around for moving around the court. I always though the T22s were a bit on the short side relative to size - I always ordered 11.5 and it sometimes felt like I needed a 12, at least until they broke in a bit. The 11.5 of this is a hair longer, so the fit is really true to size and extremely comfortable, especially for my wide feet. All in all, these will definitely by shoe of choice going forward and I'm glad to took a chance to switch.

The Prince of ShoesThese fit like a glove for my foot. The high tops give my ankles extra support. The thin arch area but wider foot provides that snug but comfortable feeling. The extra width on the outer side of the shoe provides greater stability for me. They are light but solid. True to fit size, supportive and comfortable and simple decorative patterns make for an all around great experience. A shoe for any occasion or play style. I also loved the K-Swiss brand but ended up using them for the gym or casual wear because they were not great player shoes. Diadora Blue Icons were nice but hard to lace up. I play once or twice a week on hardcourts indoor and out so durability works for me

Know your foot type before ordering.Okay, great shoe but even wearing a half size smaller than usual, my forefoot swims around too much in the toe box. I have an average width foot. I've had to add a pretty chunky orthotic to snug the shoe up. Laces allow a snug tug fit.

Don't you sleep on Prince just yetWide feet guy with bunions so I typically wear 9.5 4Es. The 11's fit like a glove. The wide toe box and forefoot lateral supports are a blessing. Stability is my number one priority and these meet my criteria (plus a sweet design). I grew up watching Michael Chang and Pat Rafter rock with Prince back in the 90s, and so I'm really proud that despite all it's been through the guys at Prince are still putting some thought, pride, and quality into their gear (especially Phantom racquet and shoes). Bravo.

Modern version of Prince T9 RoadsterThese run long (half to a full size) compared to the T22 line. Great ride and court feel, but still with plenty of cushioning. Roomy toe box, and no toe jamming up front. Very comfortable and fast shoe. Feels like a much needed update to the old Prince T9 Roadster. Really hoping these aren't discontinued.

My son loves these shoesMy son is ten and has been playing tennis four-five days a week lately. He’s picky about how his shoes fit and absolutely loves these cushy Prince high-tops. Even after practicing he still keeps them on. They do run a bit bigger than other shoes we tried, but we use Thorlo extra cushion socks and the roominess of the shoes accommodates perfectly for them.

Prince comes through again!Light material but tough, love the ankle high top.....fits securely and comfortable. I will continue buying until the ultimate style change ..for Prince is never better. My tennis is fast and aggressive the soles have not slipped once.....very comfortable to play in no hurry to get them off....these shoes do not have molded plastic uppers its a cloth.

Cool look, odd fit for meCool looking shoe. Appears high quality and good sole. Does resemble a basketball shoe. Problem for me was fit -- at least 1 size too big in the toe while the rest of the shoe felt normal, and quite a wide toe box. Darn. I'll have to return but some may be able to combine the cool look, unique mid and find a good fit. Prepare for 1/2-1 full size smaller than normal at least for length.

CheapRuns a half size large like another review mentioned and also they are super thin on the sides so don’t even support ankles well. I expected them to be the same quality as the high-tops Prince made about 10 years ago for tennis and they were thick and plush like basketball shoes with flat bottoms for tennis. I went back to my low-top Prince shoes which actually offer more support and fit better.

Tuff enuff?Male, 180lbs, 4.0 hard hitter, toe dragger on serves. Wear 9.5 Nikes, dropped to 8.5 and still fit a bit long. Otherwise they molded to my feet unlike anything I've tried since the old Airtech Challenges (OG). A blade-like outrigger prevents lateral roll, soft cushioned tongue adds comfort, wide outsole adds confidence. Biggest concern is tuff over time. As a toe dragger I buy 6 month warranty shoes...not available on the Phantoms. After 5 sets toe wear is evident. I'll practice in worn out Nikes (4 pair) and reserve these for matches. Ordering 2nd pair before they disappear. Not that it matters, but the black/white model looks cool AF. Menacing!

Almost thereI'm a hard hitting 4.0 singles/doubles player. While fairly light, they are very stable, but not durable enough for hard-court toe draggers. For years I wore Nike cage 3s which held up extremely well. I don't like the 4s so I decided to experiment. These are my 1st Prince shoes, which required a full size down. Pros: ankle support, wide outsole, design queues, ventilation, traction, stiffness, weight, speed, comfort and overall materials. Extended outrigger prevents rolling over when quickly changing direction. Great model name...PHANTOM 1 sounds menacing. Cons: toe wearing through after 5 sets (recommend a dual density outsole to attenuate toe wear), terrycloth patches at tongue and heel get dirty quickly. Summary: Nice overall. Add a little extra durability and colorway at the same price and these will rock. As they sit, these would be a great basketball shoe.

The Prince of ShoesThese tennis shoes are light, supportive, and great ankle support, because of the high tops. In addition there is great stability for side to side motion because of the extra side support around the ball of the feet. As soon as I put them on, they felt perfect. I didn’t notice them on, they did their job and were comfortable the entire match. I ordered a second pair to make sure I did not miss out on inventory.
